New to scripting

Hallo.

I want to learn scripting, but dont know much about it. Is learning powershell a good place to start without knowing anything about scripting?

Thought about buying "Learn Windows PowerShell 3 in a Month of Lunches - Don Jones & Jeffrey Hicks". Will it be okay as a starter book?
