Hi. I have recently installed dotnet 7. Since then PowerShell 7.0.1 (last working version for Windows 7) closes immediately after start, it’s a flash on the screen basically. I had to use a screen recorder to find out what the message is in that flash of a second, “Failed to create CoreCLR, HRESULT: 080004005”.
Is there a way to force PS7.0.1 to use other dotnet version (I have V2 … V6 installed)? Dotnet V7 doesn’t seem to be very backwards compatible, but I need it for a different program.
Regards, Julian.
Julian,
Welcome to the forum.
As far as I remember you don’t need dotNet 7 to run PowerShell 7.
PowerShell V7 is the most compatible version of PowerShell you can have. It runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Regardless of that: the support for WIndows 7 ended more than 3 years ago. Why do you still need to run it and why can’t you use Windows PowerShell if you need to run it on Windows 7?
